PASTOR’S PEN . . .
by
Pastor Dave Templin
‘Tis
the season for change. Yes, the end of spring brings many changes in life, not
to mention the annual growing season in the northern hemisphere. But, what
about the ‘sphere’ of the church? This, too, sees growth and change during
these days and the weeks ahead. Here are some things for which to watch:
1. Our
new
officers will be
joining the continuing members of Session and of Deacons at their respective
monthly meetings in June. Many thanks for those faithful leaders completing
their term of service. Elders Ryan B., Gary C., Elisa L., Gerry M., and Von S.,
and Deacons Bonnie B., Judy C., and Betty C. will be changing their role and now
doing their leading by example ‘from the pews.’ New officers coming on board
will be Elders Don I., Rudy K., Helen S., and Pauline W. (re-elected for a
second term), and Deacons Susan B., Peggy P., and Kathryn P.l (also re-elected
for a second term). Please keep all your leaders in daily prayers for God’s
guiding of our congregation through them.
2. Several
of our
young
people will be
graduating from High School and launching off into various fields of work and
study. Be sure to check out the information about them by our Youth Director,
Justin Ross, in this
LOG.
And keep each of these folks in your daily prayers as they seek to grow in life
and in faith.
3. Summer
is the ‘moving season’ as
new
folks will be
relocating to our area and new families will be looking for a faith community in
which to worship and grow in their faith journey. Make it a point to look for
and welcome new neighbors moving into your area as well as those who come to
worship on a Sunday. AND make it a point to invite them to be a part of your
small group or to accompany you to some other fellowship activity. Your
invitation could make all the difference in their life!
New
staff member, Kurt
Imbach, is getting in touch with small groups and forming new ones as needed.
Welcome his work with us in resourcing these groups, and pray for God’s leading
and wisdom as he helps ‘old’ and ‘new’ folks connect with Christ’s family here.
Yes, summer is the season
of change and growth. In the church it is a time filled with opportunity – for
refreshment, re-creation, and reconnecting with one another. What part of this
does God have in mind for you? As those charged with Christ’s Great Commission,
let’s be looking for ways to meet and make new disciples in his kingdom.
