Stephen Ministry . . .

At age 28, John thought of himself as invincible.  A former high school football player, he was enjoying life as a healthy, single man with a good-paying job.  Everything seemed to be going well for him.  However, over the course of just three years, it all eroded away.  He lost his job, developed a serious illness, lost his father to a heart attack, and had to place his mother in a nursing home.  "Things had been going so well, but the rug was pulled out from under me.  Not just once, but again and again.  I felt like there was a big hole in my life," John recalled.

While visiting his mother at the nursing home, John ran into one of the deacons from his church.  Reflecting on that seemingly "accidental" meeting, John remembered striking up a light conversation.  "Suddenly I let go and told him everything that was happening!"  The deacon turned out to be one of the congregation's Stephen Ministers.  He told John about Stephen Ministry and soon matched John with a Stephen Minister named Bob.  "I quickly found Bob to be very easy to talk to.  He listened to me, understood what I was going through, offered support and encouragement and really helped me get through some tough times.  God worked through Bob to help me regain the confidence I once had."

If you need to arrange a Stephen Minister, call Anita J., Bebe G., Dorothy W. or Pastor Dave at the church office.
