IMBACH'S
OUTBOX . . .
by
Kurt Imbach
We are going to need your help! No, I am not
after money – praise the Lord for the great faithfulness of the congregation in
that regard. What I am looking for is people. People who are beginning to feel
a growing sense of vision, interest, and restlessness pulling them toward being
a more integral part of what we all are beginning to recognize as a new and
powerful work of the Holy Spirit among us. There has been a clear path of
growth laid out for us, and definite signs of that growth occurring. My very
position here at the church is a near miraculous evidence of that growth. I
won’t take the time to detail more documentation now (come Feb. 12th to hear
more). My intent is to describe some new opportunities for ministry which this
growth calls for.
The completion of the new kitchen opens a new
world of opportunity. We are only beginning to grapple with the
implications and potential. Many already have responded to set up
guidelines and procedures, train those who will be using it, be responsible
for it, and steer us toward the best use of it. But many more will be
needed. Terry Smith (Fellowship Committee) would be one to contact.
Our strong commitment to youth ministry will
require ongoing help (the direction of ministry is determined by the
resources). But one major opportunity is for someone to take leadership in
organizing and administrating the youth mission trips in concert with Justin
Ross.
We are developing a number of Discipleship 201
courses to flesh out our curriculum and make 201 a solid basic educational
training course for all church members. We want to add courses to provide
an overview of the Bible, a history of the church, how we got our Bible,
contemporary issues, the spiritual journey, basic beliefs, etc. which not
only will require teachers (or team teachers), but someone (ones) to oversee
and steer the development of this level.
We will be looking for someone to be an
understudy for the Life Group ministry.
We are also looking ahead to our level 301
courses which will emphasize finding our spiritual gifts and ministry within
the congregation.
Pastor Dave’s sabbatical will also create new
opportunities for all of us which we are only starting to understand.
If any of these things (or others I have not
thought of) resonate with you, we need to start talking. This is going to be
fun, don’t you think?
