PASTOR’S PEN . . .
by
Pastor Dave Templin
We’re looking for some committed
servants.
Leadership roles in the church
sometimes suffer a kind of confusion. Now and then an opportunity comes along
that may sound like one thing while actually being rather different than one
might assume. The advertising industry makes intentional use of this as a kind
of misdirection – examples: The beautiful woman “displayed” with the new car
(now, which are you buying?), or the Army’s campaign “An Army of One” which
appeals to the self-sufficiency of the individual when the new recruit quickly
discovers that the Army is about teamwork, not individual expression. You may
think you are getting one thing when something else is the real result.
Such may well be the case as one
considers the need we have for a superintendent of next year’s children’s Sunday
School program here at WPC. We see the word “school” and think that we have to
be an expert with kids. Not the case. Or we see the word “superintendent” and
think one has to do the work all by oneself. Nada. No way.
What we are looking for in a
Sunday School superintendent is someone who will organize the planning and work
of the education team (many are returning members of last year’s team). You
don’t have to be an expert with kids, but you do need a heart for helping
ministry happen. You don’t have to be a “lone ranger.” Our youth director,
Justin Ross, and a host of others will work alongside you in this important
ministry. There are excellent resources with which to work, but one person is
missing . . .
Your church needs YOU!
Specifically, we need you to serve
as superintendent of children’s Sunday School next fall. Now is the time to
begin planning, so please contact Justin or me to let us know how you can help.
We’ll answer your questions and
help you be a part of our ministry team!
