IMBACH'S OUTBOX . . .

by Kurt Imbach

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Lenten dinners and studies.  An attendance of 75-105 throughout the six weeks is astonishing.  And so many people helped in meal planning, preparation, serving, set-up, clean up, and in the covering of expenses.  It was a triumph of personal commitment, hard work, generosity, good planning, and joy of working together in true fellowship.  It was a tremendous encouragement to me, an exciting event for our church, and a healthy stretch for our Life Groups.

Before Lent, our Life Group sampled three of the many Ken Bailey videos in our church library.  We were very pleasantly surprised as we experienced the powerful, fresh insights which this teaching resource offers.  They address important topics and key Bible passages that deserve a hearing.  They are not charismatically presented, nor are they strong in application, but are very listenable, crystal clear, profound and worthwhile.  I commend them to all Life Groups, at least as possible change-ups to your regular studies.  But take the time to discuss life applications.

We continue to struggle with Lois’ health, and the incessant bouts with pain that Takayasu’s arteritis brings.  Our Doctors have encouraged us that most likely it will eventually be substantially alleviated.  The next three weeks will be critical as we find out whether the steroids and medications do in fact help her to “turn the corner” in a significant way.  If she has not responded that way in that time, the strategy is to switch to a sequence of oral chemo treatment.  Stenting, to restore blood flow to shoulders and arms, is still a possibility.  We both thank you for on-going prayers and kind expressions of concern.
