About Us

Whidbey Presbyterian is a Presbyterian Church (USA) congregation with about 180 people in worship each Sunday. The church, founded in 1963, is located in Oak Harbor, Washington on the north end of Whidbey Island.

While we are all on a spiritual journey, not everyone is in the same “place.”  We invite you to be a part of this community seeking to encourage and build up one another in faith, grow closer to God in Jesus Christ, and share his living water through ministry and mission with our world.

  • Bring your questions

  • Find friends asking the same things as you

  • Connect with groups that help you grow

  • Find one-to-one support for your particular concerns

  • Worship and serve Jesus Christ as you learn

Purpose-DrivenŽ Presbyterians
In 2005 we undertook a “40 Days of Purpose” campaign focused on spiritual life and growth.  200 people took part in daily readings in “The Purpose-Driven Life” and in weekly small group studies and fellowships.  God blessed us with great spiritual growth.  Today we continue to grow as we develop and organize our life around the five purposes for God’s church: Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry, and Mission, and to reach out to friends and neighbors with God’s good news of new life in Christ Jesus.

Our worship life holds rich experience as together we give praise to God and seek God's Word each week.

Ministry

Our members continue to grow as they discover their gifts and use them in serving Christ through the ministries of the church.  Volunteers of all ages are engaged in ministry throughout the life of the congregation under the leadership of the governing body, the Session.  We also maintain an active prayer ministry, Stephen Ministry, and Board of Deacons as we seek to be faithful followers of Jesus Christ.

Mission/Outreach
This is the discovery of your gifts to do God’s work in the world.  You were made for a mission.  Many of our members have, or are already participating in mission opportunities as near as the local food closet and as far away as Rwanda, Kenya, and southeast Asia.

Whidbey Presbyterian is committed to sharing Christ's love in a variety of both social and Christian organizations at local, national and international levels.  Part of our ministry is the stewardship of all the resources God has given us.  We respond to God's gifts by supporting God's ministries and missions with our tithes, offerings, gifts and endowments.

Church Leadership
Elders and Deacons provide the spiritual and service leadership of the congregation. Of the elders, men and women serve a three-year term on the church's governing body, known as Session, each coordinating a specific area of ministry. The active Deacons also lead the congregation in service as they provide caring ministries within and outside the congregation.

Pastoral and Program Staff
We are privileged to have a team of highly trained, experienced and committed professional
staff guiding us in the worship and service of God.  Any of the pastoral staff or program volunteers would welcome your e-mail or call 360-679-3579.
