Life Groups
(small fellowship groups). Interested in being
part of an on-going Life Group for Bible study, prayer,
and mutual support in faith? We discover new life
in them and discuss life’s questions and issues in the
life-giving presence of Jesus Christ. If you are
not connected with a Life Group at the present time, but
would like to explore that possibility, or if you wish
to discuss, ask questions concerning, or explore the
idea of Life Groups, please feel free to talk with Kurt
Imbach. He's in his office in the Blue House on
Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Call 679-3579 or email
him at
kurt@whidbeypres.org.
Early in the Journey.
Are you early in your journey with Christ? Do you
have questions about who Jesus Christ is and what it
means to be a Christian? Are you interested in
discussing those questions with others who have
questions? Are you feeling that you want to do
some "growing" in your spiritual life and in your
relationship with God? Do you enjoy restaurants,
bowling, camping, BBQ picnics, theater or informal
socializing with other people? Are you single or
married or divorced or have children or have no
children?
If
so, please join us.
We encourage everyone to attend the 9:30 Worship in the
Sanctuary, 11:00 Bible Study in the Fellowship Hall
(under the Sanctuary) with childcare provided, and then
everyone will gather for combined lunch at 12:15, also
in the Fellowship Hall.
Email
Justin for more information or call the
church office at 679-3579.
Adult Growth and Ministry:
Please join us for adult education at 9:30 a.m. in the
Blue House. Additionally, every quarter in
the fall, winter and spring
we
invite members to the foundational Discipleship 201
class where they can learn about and commit themselves
to living as Christ’s disciples. We continue to
develop other Discipleship class offerings in Bible
studies, Christian faith and living, church history, and
contemporary issues. These are scheduled at
various times including one-day “Saturday Seminars” as
well as multi-week courses.
For
more specific
information on these classes check the
Weekly Announcements page for more information.

Divorce Recovery
is a ministry started here at WPC over ten years ago by
Melody Young. People still call searching for help in
this area, but currently are turned away. If you are
interested in helping with this ministry please call the
church office. 679-3579
Barnabas Group meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays at Noon in the Blue House
during the school year. These are great times for
fellowship and for prayer support for the church’s
ministries and missions. Please bring your own
lunch and happy presence.
Presbyterian Women: The women’s fellowship at Whidbey Presbyterian
Church is open to all women. Meetings are held the
third Thursday of the month at noon in Heritage Hall.
Hostesses serve dessert following a sack lunch.
Several meetings are potluck lunches. Additional
get-togethers are scheduled to work on boutique and
mission projects.
Morning Bible Study
- Our daytime Bible study meets the first Thursday
of each month at 10:30 A.M. in Heritage Hall during
the school year. If you have questions, please
call Suzanne M.
Evening Bible Study
- The Evening Bible study will meet in the Blue
House at 7:00 P.M. in the 2nd Wednesday of each
month during the school year. If you have
questions, please call Margie W.
Partnerships
- Please save your receipts when you shop at Saar's
Marketplace grocery store! The Presbyterian
Women receive a donation based on the sales
receipts we return to them. Receipts can be
placed in the cans at the office and in the Heritage
Hall entrance. We also have an arrangement
with Albertson’s grocery store to receive a
percentage back on our purchases there.
Albertson’s uses an identification card, which can
be obtained from Esther Grimshaw. Just show
the card at the register when you pay for your
groceries. The Presbyterian Women fund a significant
number of programs with the proceeds from these
partnerships, so your support is really appreciated.
Programs and Activities
are numerous and varied ¬ all-day sewing sessions to make hospital gowns for the
overseas missions and colorful fleece quilts for new
babies in our congregation, serving “Meals on
Wheels” at the Senior Center in October, and at
Christmas we share plates of assorted cookies with
church members and donate from our hat-mitten-sock
tree, hats, gloves, socks and sets of
hat-scarf-mittens to the Women-Infant-Children
program for distribution. In November, after
months of preparation, a Holiday Boutique/Luncheon/
Silent Auction is held.

We are Presbyterian Women
We Gather
Is it spring yet? Presbyterian Women are having their
May salad potluck, so it must be! We meet May 15th at
noon to share our favorite salads and learn more about
using baskets for floral displays. Eileen Oldham will be
our charming teacher.
Please bring salad for 4-6 people, our hostesses will
provide dessert. All women are invited.
We Travel
A small group went to Mukilteo on April 24th for the
spring gathering of North Puget Sound Presbytery P.W. We
learned a lot about Cambodia and a bit about Calvin
Presbyterian in Shoreline. We will give a short report
at the meeting on the 15th.
We Learn
The last of our Bible studies on the book of Ruth will
be May 1st and May 14th. Our morning study meets at
10:30 a.m. on the 1st. The evening Bible study will meet
at 6:00 p.m. to dine at Mitzel’s with Bible study at
7:00 p.m.
We Serve Others
May is a great month to remember mothers around the
world. PW will offer cards to celebrate moms and remind
others that you care by sending $10 in their name to buy
mosquito netting. These nets protect women and children
from malaria. The cards will be available for purchase
in the church office the first 2 weeks of May.
We Have Fun!
Have a lovely summer! Give PW cookbooks to your summer
hosts (or guests), your grandchildren moving out and
living on their own, or the lovely new bride. Join us
for the first boutique workshop for 2008. This
first one will be for ideas and planning on May 8th at
10:30 a.m. in Heritage Hall.
Men's Ministry.
The Men’s Breakfast Group meets in Heritage Hall at 7:00
am, Thursday mornings year 'round. After a hot
breakfast, fellowship continues through a short,
informal business meeting where current projects are
addressed. For example, the group completes about
one micro-mission every three weeks. Then, Pastor
Dave moderates a brisk and often personally insightful
Bible Study. After a period intercessory prayer,
the group breaks up about 8:30 am to start the day.
